Britain’s sugar addiction is causing a dental decay epidemic. On average 170 children a day are having teeth removed under general anaesthetic in hospitals .This is an unacceptable figure considering that decay is a preventable disease.

Food and drink companies are taking some steps in reducing the sugar content in their products .Although this can lead to some short term consumer dissatisfaction as taste can be altered it has been shown that people do become accustomed to the changes in time. This has been proved in recent years as salt concentration has been reduced in many products in the UK such that foods eaten abroad now taste too salty.Palates can  be educated in time.
